The Wort Hogs will brew anywhere, but we meet in the northern Virginia suburbs of Reston and Herndon, Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC. We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm, at the Herndon Carpool.

Update: the 2012 competition schedule is now available. (Apparently, some people prefer to have more than a week to brew their January entries. Who knew?)

BURP/Wort Hogs Club Challenge: Saturday, January 21, 1–6PM

The BURP Club has challenged us to an Imperial Brew Off! This competition will be for BJCP categories 12C (Baltic Porter), 13F (Russian Imperial Stout) and 14C (Imperial IPA), and Cat 23 (Specialty), (Smoked Baltic Porter? Cherry Imperial Stout?) which includes “Imperial” versions of other beer styles (Imperial Kolsch?) which will be acceptable. You can enter as many beers as you would like, though we ask you to bring at least 60oz. for judging. You’re more than welcome to bring a growler or extra keg! Beers will be judged by a team of judges from both clubs and in accordance with BJCP guidelines. If you plan to enter a beer or beers in the competition, please email Mike Evans, Matt, and Henry by January 20 with details. The BURP'ers were nice enough to invite us to their meeting, and that’s where we'll have the competition. The meeting will be at The Lab, 1801 N. Quaker Lane, Alexandria, VA 22302 from 1–6pm. We’d like to start the competition by 2pm, so please try to get your beer there in time.
