Brewing and Winemaking Links
Here we have collected links to resources for home brewers, winemakers, and mazers (mead-makers). All entries under the categories of suppliers and recipe sites were contributed by actual, real-live Wort Hogs, and in most cases include commentary on what is good (or not so good) about the site in question.
Recipe Sites
Entries in this category include the submitter's comments and his/her initials in [brackets]. The categories (beer, wine, mead, other) reflect what you will generally find on a site, and should by no means be considered a limitation.
Beer
Homebrew Digest: I used this a lot to help with brewing the Berliner, and Wendell reminded me of it the other day. Good Stuff. [JT]
The Brewery: Tries to be all things to all brewers, and turns out being most to many. Not a half bad resource. [JT]
Beerhunter: Michael Jackson's site [KR]
The Cat's Meow: Not updated anymore [KR]
Gambrinus's Mug: The 'descendent' site of Cat's Meow (I've never checked to see if there is recipe overlap - I use them in tandem) [KR]
Home Brew Digest: Their discussion forum is legendary. [SG]
Home Brew Digest Recipator: Takes a little getting used to, but otherwise a useful tool. [DT]
Brew Your Own Magazine: A very nice site with a bunch of archived articles and recipes. [WO]
Note: This is a brewing magazine's Web site, not a site about how to brew a magazine. ;-) [WK]
Williams Brewing: Much like More Beer; also a great catalog that should be subscribed to. [WO]
Wine
Somebody please send me some wine recipe links! Will Kohudic
Mead
Got Mead?: Good Mazer's resource [JT]
Yahoo Group: Meadmakers: Not bad, and with a public archive. [JT]
The Mead Brewing Archive: [KR]
Other
Cariadoc - Drinks: A small but interesting site with nonalcoholic Medieval Middle Eastern Drinks plus some mead variations - the Sekanjabin is my favorite and a great summer drink. It's still common in Iran today, according to a friend of mine. [KR]
